I don’t know about you but the transition from fall to winter seems much more natural than from summer to fall. It is probably because it starts to get colder so I just naturally start wearing warmer winter clothing. Also I think the holidays play a big role in a smooth transition. Halloween ends October and Thanksgiving follows in November. After Thanksgiving the hype for Christmas really starts. I still wanted to share some outfits that have been great for transitioning into the colder weather. Here in Utah we have already had a couple of snow storms and lots of cold weather so I am really feeling the winter vibes.
Outfit #1: For all of these outfits I really embrace fall tones while wearing warmer things like thicker coats. For this first outfit I also wore brown plaid Sperry boots which are perfect for those fall snow storms. In general plaids are good options for fall to winter transitions plus its around the holidays so it fits well!
Outfit #2: L.L. Bean has such great fall and winter options. I have several plaid shirts from them and recently got this amazing vest that is perfect for this time of year. Bean boots are also great for the wet snow! I have both the mocs and the 8″ boots.
Outfit #3: This last outfit was an easy one for work and the plaid blazer and brown teddy coat bring more fall vibes. I am not at all opposed to black though and embraced a black scarf and pants. The sneakers also make it a little less wintery.
The snow finally stuck! I love snow and although it feels kind of early I am so excited about out first real snow. So it did snow a couple of times throughout the past month but it never really stuck here in town. This weekend we had some crazy weather. It was so windy, rainy and snowy on Saturday evening. A big branch actually broke off into our driveway. Sunday we decided to take a drive up Logan canyon to enjoy the leaves, the snow and try to hike (we weren’t sure what the trail conditions would be like). The trail we wanted to do is pretty steep so we decided against it but did explore some little trails. It is so beautiful right! I truly love that transition from fall to winter.
I hope you had a fun weekend and got to enjoy some fall weather!
UPDATE: I completely forgot to mention that Nordstrom is carrying Everlane right now.
Along with this new Sustainable Style Series that I am doing I wanted to highlight a brand every month that does a great job of creating clothing it a sustainable way. There are lots of factors that are involved in this process so I will do my best to explain how a brand is “sustainable” and what their views are on sustainable style. I am starting with Everlane since it is my favorite for basics. Everything is so cute, stylish and affordable. They are also very transparent about the whole process of making a piece (cost and all). I also think it is a brand that makes clothing that is high quality and lasts for a long time. That is such an important part of creating a sustainable brand since ultimately we don’t want to keep producing and buying.
I have been going to Everlane for pretty much everything before looking anywhere else. Before I share some of my favorites from them I wanted to share some things that I have had my eye on. First are these knit booties. I love that they are unique and stylish. I have not tried any Everlane shoes yet but I am hoping to in the future! Next are these wide leg pants. I usually stick to skinny or straight leg but I am loving these. Finally, I have had my eye on their puffer jackets since last year.
I also wanted to mention that I have an Everlane backpack and I love it. It is such great quality and mine is black so it goes with everything.
I hope you enjoyed! Let me know what your favorite ‘sustainable brands’ are!
Outerwear is definitely one of my favorite parts of any outfit. The need for a warmer layer is one of many reason that I love fall so much. Warm jackets and cozy sweaters are the best. I wanted to do a round up of my favorite pieces of outwear for this time of year. Here are seven of my most worn jackets/coats for the fall season.
Last year I did a series of seasonal posts that highlight my favorite things about that season. See last year’s Fall Feels post. I wanted to continue that tradition but I am challenging myself to not repeat anything from last year’s post. My list now includes both things I love about a season and things that remind me of that season. Fall is my favorite so it is when I started this series and I can’t wait for everything it has to offer. I have already been wearing lots of fall clothing and have found some great decorations for the season (mums and pumpkins are my favorites!).
Reading Harry Potter
Butternut squash soup
I also linked my Halloween movies post last year that I will link again since I definitely stand by all of these movies as great fall and halloween inspiration!
