First Snow

The snow finally stuck! I love snow and although it feels kind of early I am so excited about out first real snow. So it did snow a couple of times throughout the past month but it never really stuck here in town. This weekend we had some crazy weather. It was so windy, rainy and snowy on Saturday evening. A big branch actually broke off into our driveway. Sunday we decided to take a drive up Logan canyon to enjoy the leaves, the snow and try to hike (we weren’t sure what the trail conditions would be like). The trail we wanted to do is pretty steep so we decided against it but did explore some little trails. It is so beautiful right! I truly love that transition from fall to winter.

I hope you had a fun weekend and got to enjoy some fall weather!

Sustainable Brand Highlight: Everlane

UPDATE: I completely forgot to mention that Nordstrom is carrying Everlane right now.

Along with this new Sustainable Style Series that I am doing I wanted to highlight a brand every month that does a great job of creating clothing it a sustainable way. There are lots of factors that are involved in this process so I will do my best to explain how a brand is “sustainable” and what their views are on sustainable style. I am starting with Everlane since it is my favorite for basics. Everything is so cute, stylish and affordable. They are also very transparent about the whole process of making a piece (cost and all). I also think it is a brand that makes clothing that is high quality and lasts for a long time. That is such an important part of creating a sustainable brand since ultimately we don’t want to keep producing and buying.

I have been going to Everlane for pretty much everything before looking anywhere else. Before I share some of my favorites from them I wanted to share some things that I have had my eye on. First are these knit booties. I love that they are unique and stylish. I have not tried any Everlane shoes yet but I am hoping to in the future! Next are these wide leg pants. I usually stick to skinny or straight leg but I am loving these. Finally, I have had my eye on their puffer jackets since last year.

This white sweater has been my obsession for several weeks now. It is such great quality, so comfortable and so classic!

I will say that I have not tried many of there pants/jeans but they are all look amazing. I do have these black jeans that they are great (also on sale right now for such a great price)!

This mock neck is from last year but they have a similar style here.

Such a comfortable henley waffle shirt! I am also just loving this color for fall.

There loungewear is also great quality. I can just tell it will last a long time. This sweatshirt is sold out now but the hoodie they do have in stock looks so comfy (that brass color is so nice).

This might be one of the best purchases for value I have made all year. This t-shirt dress is so comfortable, a great color and affordable. It is sold out now but hopefully they will bring it back next summer (they do still have a cotton shirtdress in stock).

I also wanted to mention that I have an Everlane backpack and I love it. It is such great quality and mine is black so it goes with everything.

I hope you enjoyed! Let me know what your favorite ‘sustainable brands’ are!

Favorite Fall Outerwear

Outerwear is definitely one of my favorite parts of any outfit. The need for a warmer layer is one of many reason that I love fall so much. Warm jackets and cozy sweaters are the best. I wanted to do a round up of my favorite pieces of outwear for this time of year. Here are seven of my most worn jackets/coats for the fall season.

Slide1

A great denim jacket, a classic trench coat, a comfy leather jacket (this was in my favorite purchases of 2018 and I think it is still one of my all time favorite purchases), a black or navy vest, a barn jacket (perfect for apple picking, hiking, farm adventures and any other fall adventure), a sweater coat, any poncho (I am liking a navy or beige for fall, more affordable option from Madewell)

Coffee shop run. This trench coat is one of my most worn clothing items of all time. Mine is ASOS from probably four years ago but I linked an Everlane option above that is so cute (plus Everlane is an amazing brand). I love that trench coats can be dressed up or down and just always make an outfit look classy.

I mentioned above that this was a favorite purchase last year and I still love it and wear it a ton, especially during fall. I love that this one has a hood and gold hardware but there are lots of great options out there.

Apple picking in my Barbour vest! It is the perfect layering piece. I think that it also does a great job of adding class to any outfit.

Apple picking with a friend in a perfect flannel lined Carhartt jacket. This is one jacket I don’t worry about getting dirty and still love the look of (plus it is super comfy).

Ponchos are a great outwear option for dressier occasions but can also be dressed down for casual weekend trips to the farmer’s market and for easy work days.

This Mark and Graham sweater coat (linked above) is a new purchase this season but I have already worn it several times. It is a great weight for the cool mornings and it goes with just about anything.

A denim jacket is such a versatile closet essential. I wear mine spring, summer and fall and never get sick of it. For fall I love pairing it with shades of olive or beige.

Happy fall my lovely people!

Fall Feels Second Edition

Last year I did a series of seasonal posts that highlight my favorite things about that season. See last year’s Fall Feels post. I wanted to continue that tradition but I am challenging myself to not repeat anything from last year’s post. My list now includes both things I love about a season and things that remind me of that season. Fall is my favorite so it is when I started this series and I can’t wait for everything it has to offer. I have already been wearing lots of fall clothing and have found some great decorations for the season (mums and pumpkins are my favorites!).

Yummy candles

Hot springs

Burnt orange

Cool breeze

Apple crisp

Rainy nights

Reading Harry Potter

Changing colors

Butternut squash soup

Booties

Cozy blankets

Camping

I also linked my Halloween movies post last year that I will link again since I definitely stand by all of these movies as great fall and halloween inspiration!
