Seersucker & A Red Barn

It has been incredibly hot lately but today it finally cooled down! Perfect weather though for a seersucker skirt. I actually received this skirt for my birthday and it is my favorite. Seersucker is the best and I love the length and the white buttons down the front are such a great touch. This has been a go to outfit this summer and it is great to wear to work as well!

While in Cambridge City a few weeks ago I found this old farm which I discovered is actually a historical marker. It is called Huddleston Farmhouse and it is so beautifully preserved. It a nice place to visit and you can request tours. Finding it though just gave me one more reason to visit this little town. I just can’t get enough! So many cute little shops and the ice cream is delicious.

Around the Web

IMG_8531

Happy Saturday morning! Here is my round up of interesting articles I have been reading this month. I did include a book that I am reading now as well, Classic Style, which is amazing! Just a warning this Around the Web is definitely mostly fashion.

Rodarte spring 2018 Ready-to-Wear: Rodarte and Proenza Schouler debuted their 2018 ready-to-wear collections at the fall 2018 haute couture week in Paris. This is impressively a whole season ahead of most designers. Although this is so far ahead considering most people are just focusing on the fall season, it is definitely an interesting move on the designer’s parts. There were lots of florals, texture and blush (not going anywhere!), there was also some black in the Rodarte collection.

Lucinda Chambers interview: This fired vogue editor goes at the fashion industry in a way you would not expect. Yes this news is from the beginning of July but it was just such an interesting perspective to me especially because she is really wasn’t afraid to say what she wants about the industry. It is definitely worth the read.

Classic Style by Kate Schelter: This book is definitely changing my perspective on how I create and define my style. I am not finished reading but it has been so great so far, I can’t rave about it enough. She addresses how classic style is not about having tons and tons of clothes but quality pieces that really define who you are what you stand for. Her illustrations are also beautiful!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: I am sure everyone has heard that one of the biggest and best sales of the year is underway. This sale is amazing because it is basically a pre-sale with many of their fall items on major sale. Here are a couple of my favorites. My shoe picks: Blush MulesTory Burch boots (on major sale), Vince Camuto over the knee boot. Dresses: pink ruffle mini and this wrap maxi. Outerwear: Patagonia fleece vestquilted Patagonia pullover, Pendleton rain jacket, Barbour navy vest. Accessories: plaid scarf (comes in several color patterns I ordered two), Rebecca Minkoff embroidered crossbody (sold out right now). So some of these items are sold out but they update fairly often with returns and the occasional restock so check back frequently if there is something you really want.

Misty Copeland poses as Edgar Degas paintings: This is such a cool project, putting a twist on classic paintings. I love Misty Copeland and these photographs are incredible and definitely help to redefine a part of our culture.

Walking Dead season 8: Strange as it might be, I am such a huge Walking Dead fan and I am so excited for the next season. I have been waiting for a while and it is set to premiere on October 22nd.

Goop Summer Reading Guide: This has been pulled up on my computer for at least a week because it has given me such great ideas for reading right now and really inspired me to get into a more regular reading routine. I am really excited to read several of their new picks and their classics list definitely gave me some ideas.

Bow Swimsuit

I searched all summer for the perfect swimsuit and it definitely was a challenge. I know there are lots of options out there but I was really looking for something that was both cute, comfortable and flattering. I tried a couple different suits and finally found this one! It is from Zara and it is the most comfortable suit I have ever worn. It is also so cute and the black is classic, it can go with anything!

It is going to be great for the beach in August. I can’t wait to be back on the salty shores and take a break from work! This July has been pretty much only work for me so I have been at a computer most days and I am ready for some beach time. I really like the research I am doing but the hot, humid Indiana weather definitely gets to me and sitting at the computer gets tiring.

Free People Swing Dress

This dress is amazing! It is so cute and the fabric is comfortable with such a nice flow. The back also is very interesting. I do recommend sizing down since it is Free People however it is very adjustable at the top and around the waist which I didn’t expect but actually really like.

I had been eyeing the Pebble color for a while because I thought it would be so versatile and my mom ended up getting it for me for my birthday. It is definitely one of my favorite finds this summer. It has been so perfect for everything from my graduation party to just casual walks through downtown Santa Fe.

Cambridge City

This past weekend brought many adventures, one of which was a trip to one of the antiquing capitals of the US. We drove through several towns along highway 40 to get the the small but rather well known Cambridge City. There is an abundance of antique shops lining the main streets. Our first stop was  the one little shop that sells ice cream, fudge and other delicious treats. Main Street Sweets is so picturesque and you can even get lunch! We got ice cream since it was so hot out. After enjoying this adorable little shop we moved on through the antique shops lining Main Street. Almost every shop sold antiques and multiple vendors were housed in each shop.

I am not really in a place to be buying big things but this is such a worth it place to visit to find those decor gems. I bought two little vintage bird cards but had my eye on so many things! There were some great old hat boxes, clutches and pins that caught my eye and I am sure I will be back for another visit. I highly recommend checking it out if you are driving along I-70. Centerville is just ten minutes down the road and also has quite the number of antique shops and a few worth it restaurants.

It is such a cute little town where you can definitely find some hidden gems. There were some great pieces of furniture, stunning jewelry and the occasional basket bag.

Gingham Dress

I wasn’t really looking for something gingham but I was at H&M a couple weeks ago just browsing and I found this adorable dress. Other things I have found that were gingham just didn’t seem to look right on me. I found this dress and I was very pleasantly surprised. It fits so well and is comfortable. I love it! It is also such a great price and definitely worth it.

Gingham is very in this summer and there are lots of other great pieces. This dress definitely got me looking. I love these sneakers from Madewell and these from J. Crew. I have been eyeing this J. Crew swim top for months, it is just so cute. I just ordered this J. Crew Factory romper because I love it and the price is so great. Finally this shirt caught my eye in looking towards the fall season.

It is just a great dress and I love it with these pearls but it definitely would go with lots of others!

Summer Floral

Good morning!

I hope everyone had a fun 4th of July. It was definitely a fun one with such amazing food (my friend made strawberry rhubarb pie and it was delicious) and I was very impressed with the small town Indiana fireworks we watched.

Floral dresses are definitely a must during the summer, especially as it starts to really get warm. I was shopping with my mom and sister while I was home and we found this gorgeous Free People dress. It is so lightweight, comfortable and perfect for summer outings. The white and purples look so great and I just love how it falls. Not only that but it is on sale right now!

The flowers again are just so beautiful. I can’t help but take a million pictures every time I go on a walk.

Happy July

Happy July 4th!

It is time for barbecuing, fireworks and fun with friends. So as is fairly common in most places, the fireworks in our area were on Saturday night so we will be driving to a nearby town to picnic with some friends and watch the fireworks there. It should be a blast, I always love watching fireworks and am super psyched to see these friends.

Summer is definitely in full swing now and there is a lot to look forward to. June was an especially fun month with lots travel and time with my family. July will be mostly work with a few weekend adventures and time to just chill out. August will bring more travel which I am very excited for! It definitely has been a great post-college summer so far.

This such an amazing shirt from J. Crew. It is so comfy, the perfect weight and I love the blue stripes. I also picked up this scarf from a really great thrift store in town, Designer Consignor, and it looks great with this hat.

Pink Pearls

I am really loving this bag from Everly Oak. It is so adorable and looks so classy while being very affordable. I also recently found this vintage pearl bow in the back of my closet and it is so cute! It was probably either my mom’s or my grandmother’s and I am so curious as to how she would have worn it.
