It is almost time to get all dolled up for the holidays! This time of year is probably my favorite and mostly because it is the perfect time to have fun dressing up. There are a couple of things I am looking forward to wearing that I think will really up my holiday game.
Red! This is definitely more of a classic holiday color but this year I want to do some different shades. First these J. Crew Factory suede cabernet heels (pictured below) are so cute and perfect for adding some color to an outfit. I also have several magenta pieces right now that I am really looking forward to, one is an Eden Society blazer and the other is a fantastic Free People dress (similar, this one would be fantastic as well). The dress was actually in their beach collection which was great because it was so much cheaper.
Blue make up! I am normally not very adventurous with make up. I stick with the neutral tones but this year for some reason I am inclined to try out some blue eye shadow to add a pop of color to my look. I really want to find a cobalt but there are some other really pretty blue tones that I have found. Some options: Urban Decay Dive Bar, Urban Decay Radium
Gold. Gold is also a pretty classic holiday look but this year I am trying to mix it up by mixing it with other things. For example, pictured above is a gold Tarte eyeshadow (specific palette found here) with the blue shadow. Gold glitter is also definitely a big trend, especially this year, and gold jewelry is always a great go to.
Last but not least silver! This one can be mixed up in a variety of ways. I am definitely interested in actually incorporating this into my dress/skirt somehow but there are a couple other things that are definitely perfect for taking the holiday look to the next level. A great belt or studded headband is a great way to do this! Options: DSW headband, Nordstrom headband, Nordstrom belt
Black Dress: This one is definitely a must and usually in these kind of things. They are so great because they can really be dressed up or down. A black dress is also a great go to anytime you have to dress up and are not really sure how nice. They also look great on everyone!
A great blazer: I have a few and started with basics like black but I realized that having a great, comfortable solid color one can really comes in handy. It can be fun and make the look more unique if you find the right jacket that is a little different!
Solid button down: The classic options are normally white or blue but depending on what else is in your closet a lighter pink can work really well too. The great think about this is that it can dress up almost any outfit without much effort.
Dark blue or black skinny jeans: These are definitely a necessity. They are always a go to if I am not sure what to wear or do not want to put a ton of effort in. They basically go with everything, including most shoe styles. I always struggle with shoes when wearing straight or bootcut jeans but with skinny jeans, any boots work super well and they also look good with flats and sneakers.
Olive or khaki pants: Basically pants other than jeans. Jeans are amazing but something like this gives you versatility and is a great backup if jeans aren’t acceptable at work or an event. There are some really comfy ones that look really nice! I personally choose olive because I do not really like the way khaki looks on me but it definitely works on a lot of people.
Belt: A classic belt that goes with any jeans can be so useful. I can be hard to find the right one because there are a lot of styles out there a lot depends on preference. I prefer a thicker belt for everyday wear just because I feel like it looks better (if it’s the right one). Personally I really do not like skipping on the belt even if the pants fit really well only because I feel like it looks really empty without one.
